Polarlys joins the Hurtigruten fleet
Article Abstract:
A new ferry ship built by Ulstein Verft has joined Norway's Hurtigruten service between Bergen and Kirknes. The 700-passenger ship, called Polarlys, has a gross tonnage of 11,348 tons and can cruise quietly and efficiently at 15 knots. It has 480 berths and a deck space for a maximum of 50 vehicles. Polarlys is powered by four Ulstein Bergen nine-cylinder diesel engines Different engine combinations are used for the ship's various speed ranges.

The CS Cable retriever is a cable ship that is designed to work in the waters of India and South East Asia by meeting the cable maintenance requirements of cable firms located in the Far East. The ship, which was built by Kvaerner Masa-Yards, has a deadweight of 4,980 ft, breadth of 21.8m and a design draught measuring 6.3 m. Five Wartsila diesel-electric motors produce 17,270 bhp. The Cable Retriever has a cruising speed of 16 knots.
