Relief of tension
Article Abstract:
The use of self-tensioning winches is standard for many vessels, since they can adopt to varying conditions including draught and tide while in port and they can also prevent possible problems during loading and unloading. Important factors to consider when selecting a winch are controllability and type of electrical and hydraulic drives. The three major companies involved in supplying winches are Clarke Chapman, Hatlapa and Ulstein.
