Article Abstract:
The US attracted around 46.4 million international visitors in 1998, down 2.8% from 1997. The fall is blamed on economic problems in the Far East, the UK, Canada and South America. Among the most popular tourist destinations are Florida, California and New York. It is expected that international tourist arrivals for 1999 will reach 47 million, up 1.3% from 1998, rising to 52.1 million by 2002.
