The leisure industry that was facing some crisis is now faced with a new problem in the form of not being able to get insurance or escalating insurance premiums. The insurers say that all risks are measured on a case-to-case basis and premiums are fixed accordingly but leisure operators are offered discounts by individual insurers.

The Wanless Report has called for a ban on smoking and indicated that mortality rates of passive smoking in hospitality rate is now 1 person per week. The effective implementation of smoking ban by some of the states have been discussed. The obligations of leisure industry towards this critical public health issue are highlighted.
