Chugach State Park: a wilderness playground beckons from the edge of Alaska's largest city

Article Abstract:

Chugach State Park comprises of 495,000 acres of 'accessible wilderness' located on a mountain range that overlooks the Alaskan city of Anchorage. The park offers a wide variety of wildlife, alpine lakes, forested valleys, jagged peaks, tundra meadows and rushing streams.

Accessible wilderness: three ways to get wild without going too far

Article Abstract:

The Denali and Chugach state parks in Alaska are readily accessible to travelers and offer suitable accommodations. The parks offer beautiful views of nature and a variety of recreational activities. The Kachemak Bay State Park is accessible by boat or floatplane only.

The essence of wilderness

Article Abstract:

Lake Clark National Park is 4 million acres of wilderness featuring two active volcanos, mountains, coastline, lakes, forest and diverse wildlife. The park is close to Anchorage but cannot be reached by automobile, so it remains unspoiled.
