Bullish on Charity
Article Abstract:
Rather than just pass the hat for charitable contributions, Garret Turbine Engine Co. has a more lively way for employees to help out charities. Every year the company organizes a rodeo for which it charges admission. The rodeo stars are company employees who do everything from roping calves to racing horses. The twenty-seven year old event earned $10,600 in 1983 which went to an organization which benefits the mentally and physically handicapped.

High times and misdemeanors
Article Abstract:
Fine photographs now dominate the art market. Edwynn Houk's success at opening a new gallery in Chicago demonstrates photography's appeal to buyers. Prices of more than $100,000 are often commanded by the most sought-after photographs. Prices first began to rise in the late 1970s, then crashed after the recession of 1981. Since then the market has recovered and boomed. The strong market for art photography is likely to linger into the 1990s.
