Protecting kids in the air: continuing struggle over child safety seats

Article Abstract:

It is ironic that there are rules for securing adults, luggage and objects on planes during takeoffs and landings, but there are no regulations for infants and children. Safety seats offer the best protection for restraining children, but they are not required. If parents want to use them, the airlines must allow them, but they must be placed in window seats so that they do not hinder an emergency evacuation.

Experts suggest that travelers use their ATM cards to access cash when in other countries. While small charges are levied for each ATM transaction, using ATM cards is still much more cost-effective than using credit cards and travelers' checks.
