Protecting kids in the air: continuing struggle over child safety seats
Article Abstract:
It is ironic that there are rules for securing adults, luggage and objects on planes during takeoffs and landings, but there are no regulations for infants and children. Safety seats offer the best protection for restraining children, but they are not required. If parents want to use them, the airlines must allow them, but they must be placed in window seats so that they do not hinder an emergency evacuation.
