A personal account of trying to travel through a snowstorm in Alaska. While much of the landscape of Alaska can be stunning and harsh, when snowstorms hit it can rapidly become a featureless, and potentially very hazardous, void.

A personal narrative of wildlife observations in Alaska is presented. A rich variety of wildlife is to be found close to human settlements but there is a danger that Alaskans are becoming divorced from the natural world.

Magellans of their kind

Article Abstract:

Salmon are plentiful in Alaska and form the diet of many animals there. They have taken advantage of new lakes and streams formed as the glaciers recede like pioneering explorers.
