The trail from Anaktuvuk

Article Abstract:

A traveler recounts the difficult experiences he had while travelling through the treacherous trails of the Anaktuvuk Pass in Alaska. There were times when he and his guide Clarence Wood passed through unsafe rivers and harsh wilderness. He was glad to have survived that trip.

Farewell to Igikpak

Article Abstract:

A personal account of visits to Igikpak, the highest mountain in the central and western Brooks Range of mountains in Alaska. While Igikpak is much smaller than the world's grandest mountain, it is argued that the context of its setting is the key to Igikpak's impact.

Cheechakos

Article Abstract:

A personal narrative of assisting visitors to Alaska is presented. In particular several naive travellers, cheechakos, people who overestimated their survival abilities and underestimated the dangers of the backcountry, are recalled.
