Article Abstract:
June Whitfield is a UK comedian who has survived many of her generation. She has performed as the mother in a television series, Absolutely Fabulous. She argues that many new comedians rely on using taboo words, rather than using wit. Psychological insights are important in successful comedies such as Absolutely Fabulous, she argues, and new comics sometimes lack this. She argues that there is nothing wrong with being middle class, though some people are ashamed of it.
