An atom-sorting machine
Article Abstract:
An extremely precise method of rearranging the positions and ordering of laser-trapped atoms within strings by manipulating individual atoms with optical tweezers is presented. The strings of equidistant atom created using the method can serve as a scalable, neutral-atom quantum register for storing and manipulating quantum information in the context of cavity quantum electrodynamics.

Weighty questions
Article Abstract:
The 'standard model' for particle physics describes the interaction of fundamental particles such as quarks and electrons, as the exchange of other particles convey force. The binding effects between quarks are fundamentally different from those in atoms and atomic nuclei, they are positive, and so increase the mass of composite particle.

Lattice window on strong force
Article Abstract:
The electromagnetic force is described by the theory of quantum electrodynamics (QED). A detailed calculation of any electromagnetic process can be performed by adding up a sufficient number of quantum corrections, and consequently the theory of QED would be verified down to the tenth decimal place.
