Beta-Lactam antibiotics offer neuroprotection by increasing glutamate transporter expression

Article Abstract:

Many beta-lactam antibiotics that are potent stimulators of GLT1 expression are discovered by using a blinded screen of 1,040 FDA-approved drugs and nutritionals. Beta-Lactams and various semi-synthetic derivatives are potent antibiotics that act to inhibit bacterial synthetic pathways.

Modulation of the neuronal glutamate transporter EAAC1 by the interacting protein GTRAP3-18

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the high-affinity NA+-dependent L-glutamate/D, L-aspartate cell-membrane transport protein excitatory amino-acid carrier 1. The characterization of an EAAC1-associated protein GTRAP3-18 is discussed.

Modulation of the neuronal glutamate transporter EAAT4 by two interacting proteins

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the use of a two-hybrid screen of yeast to determine the interaction of proteins, GTRAP41 and GTRAP48, which are involved in the regulation of the glutamate transporter EAAT4.
