Article Abstract:

The National Institute of Health Reform Act of 2006m if passed by Bush Administration would help explicit and up-to-date governing of NIH administrative structure. The bill requires the NIH director to submit biennial reports to Congress detailing the work of its 27 institutes and centers and justifying their priorities, a kind of accountability that would aid the agency re-establish its reputation post criminal charges faced by it over conflict-of-interest issues.

Come veto or high water

Article Abstract:

US President George Bush's decision to veto legislation allowing the federal government to support human embryonic stem-cell research contrasts with a broadly satisfactory compromise reached by the European Union, which open the way for more funding of such research across Europe. White House's action is expected to slow the progress of stem cell research in the United States.

Going underground: A new study's recommendations for carbon capture should be pursued

Article Abstract:

A study calls for immediate investment in and implementation of carbon capture and sequestration projects in coal plants in the United States. The proposal to gain low-carbon coal by pumping huge amounts of carbon underground is recommended to minimize the dangers of climate change.
