The insignificance of statistical significance testing
Article Abstract:
Statistical hypothesis tests are widely used in science, and their usage in wildlife is becoming more common, yet this tool may be inappropriate and may be misused. Scientific practice is influenced by editors of scientific journals who should understand statistical methods. Testing hypotheses know to be untrue constitutes a misuse of statistical methods. Wildlife biologists appear not to be aware of this, judging by articles in 'Journal of Wildlife Management', though this point has been made a number of times.

Local determinants of coypu distribution along the Lujan river, eastcentral Argentina
Article Abstract:
Coypus are indigenous to South America, and have become established in a number of locations as a result of escapes. They are important as providers of fur, and because they are seen as pests. A study in eastcentral Argentina has shown that they are more likely to be found on grassland where extensive livestock farming is practised and where water and food appear stable and abundant. There are less likely to be found in urban areas and other areas disturbed by humans.
