Echolocation signals reflect niche differentiation in five sympatric congeneric bat species

Article Abstract:

A standardized performance is used to describe cluster-dependent differences in prey-capture success for bats from five species of European Myotis. The findings suggest that the sensory ecologies of potentially competing species might play an important role in structuring of animal communication.

Bottlenose dolphins perceive object feature through echolocation

Automatic gain control in the echolocation system of dolphins

Article Abstract:

The echolocation system of dolphins in relation to the their sonar gain control is discussed. Experiments in the field are conducted and it is proved that dolphins do not possess an automatic gain control mechanism.
