Geneticists prepare for deluge of mutant mice

Article Abstract:

The meeting held by the world's biggest mouse archives at Bar Harbor, Maine discussed how to handle the 300,000 new lines of mice that could be generated over the next two decades, expanding their stocks by almost a hundredfold. They decided to form an alliance that will share information through a single website, avoid duplication of lines, and present a single global voice when pressing for more funding.

In search of the sixth sense

Article Abstract:

Scientists are exploring the possibility of integrating robotic devices controlled by thought alone with an artificial sense of proprioception, the sixth sense which lets the human brain know the relative positions in space of different parts of their bodies. The success of the venture would decide whether implants in brain could help paralyzed people move their robotic arms and legs.
