Journal reveals plans to fight fraud
Article Abstract:
A research report published in Science journal related to the Woo Suk Hwang fraud scandal that claimed to have generated embryonic stem cells by somatic-cell nuclear transfer turned out to be fabricated and generated issues about honesty of scientists researched and written manuscripts. "Science" journal has implemented a policy of risk assessment by targeting certain high-risk papers for extra scrutiny that include greater requirements for primary data and more intensive evaluation of digital images.

Kepler's seasonal gift: What lies behind the hexagonal shape of the snowflake?

Johannes Kepler, the German cosmologist offered his patron John Matthew Wacker, his small book, On the Six-Cornered Snowflake, as a New Years Gift in 1611. He tries to identify the cause of the snowflake's six-cornered configuration and notes the ubiquity of polygonal and polyhedral constructions in nature, from the cosmos to the world in miniature.
