Many U.S. biologists have signed a protest letter to the managers at the National Institutes of Health accusing the health agency of using bacteriology funds excessively for the study of bioterror threats. However, Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, disagreed with the accusation claiming that the protestors would not be concerned, had they understood all the issues and numbers involved.
