Putting the pieces together: Hong Kong

Article Abstract:

Hong Kong is encountering challenges as it seeks to establish a biotechnology sector. A key problem is the lack of private investment for long-term projects. Most investment in biotechnology comes from the government, with most of this going through the Innovation and Technology Commission to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Disputed diagnoses hamper claims of mercury poisoning

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the dispute which is occurring over the tests used to determine nerve damaged caused by methyl-mercury poisoning in people living around Minamata Bay, Japan. The diagnosis of the poisoning is discussed.
