Recovering Summit Lake's Lahontan Cutthroat trout
Article Abstract:
Summit Lake Paiute Indian Tribe live in northwestern Nevada close to the Summit Lake of the northern Great Basin. The tribe is undertaking a conservation program to ensure the recovery of the lake's population of Lahontan cutthroat trout. The tribe took over management of the lake and its fishery in 1981, since when it has sought to restore, preserve and protect fish and other wildlife resources in the area.

Jungle orphans
Article Abstract:
The Lesio-Louna Reserve in the Republic of Congo, Africa is run by the John Aspinall Foundation to rehabilitate baby gorillas who are orphaned when hunters kill their mothers. The young gorillas, usually less than two years old, are given any medical treatment they need and get a chance to live wild with other gorillas in the forests of the 65,000-hectare Reserve.

Individual- and Assemblage-Level Effects of Anthropogenic Sedimentation on Snails in Lake Tanganyika
Article Abstract:
Species richness, abundance, and evenness, along with parasitism and predation frequencies are examined for endemic snail populations in Lake Tanganyika, Africa. Little evidence was found that sedimentation negatively impacted species richness, abundance, or evenness; however, sedimentation was associated with smaller size.
