Reproductive Investment of a Lacertid Lizard in Fragmented Habitat
Article Abstract:
Female lacertid lizards from fragmented habitats in northern Spain were found to lay fewer eggs and produce smaller clutch masses than females from forests with corresponding body size. Survival of released juvenile cohorts from the study demonstrated that habitat fragmentation reduces lizard fecundity without improving offspring quality.

Scale-dependent effects of habitat disturbance on species richness in tropical forests
Article Abstract:
There is no consensus available over the effects of habitat modification on species diversity in tropical forests. Species diversity within landscapes depends on the spatial scale at which communities are sampled. The effects of disturbance in tropical forests are studied at a wide range of spatial scale.

Conservation strategies for endemic fish species threatened by the Three Gorges Dam
Article Abstract:
The article examines the impact of China's Three Gorges Dam on 44 species of endemic fish found in the Yangtze River. Data from 17 tributaries indicates that 24 of the species may survive, while 6 are likely to become extinct, and 14 have an uncertain status. Implications are discussed.
