Sherry De Boer, former actress and heiress to the Long's Drugstore chain, became involved in the animal rights movement as volunteer lobbyist for animal rights legislation in California. She founded the Animal Health and Safety Assn in 1990 and co-sponsored the Save the Horses California project.

Several regulations have been approved to protect migrating birds from continuous decline and extinction. However, bird hunters are confused about the varied rules for a variety of species that are being implemented as part of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Summit resolutions

The resolutions reached by the 47 participants to the 11th annual meeting of the Summit for the Animals are presented. The summit, which was held in St. Louis, MO, in Apr. 1995, focused on creating new laws to ensure the protection of animals.
