Synthesis of hydroazafullerene C59HN, the parent hydroheterofullerene

Article Abstract:

Hydroazafullerene C59HN, can be synthesized by the reduction of (C59N)2 or by its irradiation through a Kapton filter in 1,2-dichlorobenzene in the presence of tributyltin hydride in argon gas. C59HN is green in colour when dissolved in common solvents. The NMR spectroscopic characteristics and vibrational and electronic features of C59HN are similar those of (C59N)2. An acidic C-H bond is present in hydroazafullerene which is not there in C60. The bulk synthesis of hydroazafullerene C59HN will facilitate the synthesis of other heterofullerenes.

Patterning organic single-crystal transistor arrays

Article Abstract:

A novel method is described for effectively fabricating large arrays of single crystals of a wide range of organic semiconductor materials directly onto the transistor source-drain electrodes. The single-crystal patterning process has shown that this method constitutes a promising step that allows the utilization of high-performance organic single-crystal field-effect transistors for large-area electronic applications.

Ultralow-power organic complementary circuits

Article Abstract:

An organic circuit with very low power consumption is presented that has utilized a self-assembled monolayer gate dielectric and two different air-stable molecular semiconductors. The ultralow-power organic circuits are well-suited for battery-powered systems such as portable display devices and large-surface sensor networks as well as for radio-frequency identification tags with extended operating range.
