Thursh's diner

Article Abstract:

Descriptions of pathologic lesions given by eminent pathologists are used in making an innovative menu. The similes used in pathology are those describing food, which is ironic since the lesions are not as appetizing as the terms used. These include chicken broth fluid for the oily globules in the brownish fluid of acute pancreatitis, anchovy paste pus describing the pus in amebic liver abscess and orange peel breast to characterize the lymphedema and skin thickening in breast cancer.

Equality versus solidarity

Article Abstract:

Equality and solidarity may be compatible in France, but the tension between the two philosophies may cause one to undermine the other. Equality refers to the elimination of disadvantage, while solidarity refers to support systems in society. One way to resolve the conflict between equality and solidarity is to emphasize that one is desirable as long as it promotes the other. Another solution is to reject the conflicting aspects of the acceptance of both solidarity and equality.
