Versatility Inc provides call center software that helps sales and customer service people to identify probable solutions for customer needs with a minimum of information. The Case-Based Reasoning program, which is licensed from Inference Corp, will use cases instead of artificial intelligence to help salespeople to select the proper product after asking a few questions. Claritas TelePrizm lifestyle profiles assign potential customers to socio-economic clusters based on their phone number and zip code.

Company marketers are using data mining software to conduct extensive research on their customers. Data mining software combines artificial intelligence tools with data base statistics and reveals quite a bit about customer attributes, including whether or not a customer falls within a potential high profit group. The software looks for patterns in a customer database, and customers are then grouped and ranked accordingly to how much they might spend.

Technical support is expected to increase to ensure that the sales force automation system continues to operate correctly. In the future, technical staff may outnumber sales staff to ensure that a delay in sales completions do not occur.
