Article Abstract:

Yaxcopoil and Merida were once inhabited by the Mayans though they are devoid of spectacular ancient ruins. Yaxcopoil, meaning the place of the green alamo trees, is a large estate where henequen was cultivated. It has Renaissance style buildings embellished with classical sculptures and an eighteenth century Moorish arch at the estate's entrance. Merida, a little distance from Yaxcopoil, has large sized Mexican buildings and gardens.

Cruising Turkey's southern coast

Article Abstract:

An itinerary of a 12 day cruise from Marmaris to Antalya, along Turkey's southern coast is described. The crew stopped on the way to collect proofs of ancient Lycia, an island without much written history. A brief history of ruins, such as the ruins of Caunus and Gemiler Island, a Roman theater and an arched gateway of Xanthus is discussed.

Article Abstract:

The Cardiff Giant, dug up near Syracuse, New York in 1869, was one of the greatest archaeological hoaxes ever perpetuated. The Cardiff Giant gave rise to atleast a dozen of similar hoaxes in the next few decades with ticket sales and the possibility of a quick sell for big money seems to be the motive for most.
