Article Abstract:

Laikipia in Africa is an ideal location to evaluate archaeological sites dating to the later Stone Age before pastoral farming replaced hunting and gathering. The sites dated to the transition from later Stone Age to Pastoral Neolithic, open-air settlements in the Pastoral Neolithic as well as Maasai settlements were found.

Eketorp Fort brings to life the Swedish Iron Age through the use of reconstructions, guided tours, traditional handicrafts, and so on. A description of the reconstruction of a typical horse sacrifice site from the period addresses the limits to what can be authentically depicted in such reenactments.
