Walking the Buddha

Article Abstract:

Afghanistan's most famous archaeologist, Zemaryalai Tarzi, has unearthed the elusive 'sleeping' or 'reclining' Buddha of Bamiyan, described by a 7th-century Chinese monk visiting the valley. Tarzi feels that the discovery would signal the country's cultural resilience and possible resurgence.

Biblical iconoclast: Israel Finkelstein tilts with colleagues over the history of early Iron Age Palestine

Among Israeli archaeologists, Finkelstein is considered as a radical and firebrand in the field of archaeological studies. Finkelstein disassociates with minimalists, and rejects the conservative and traditional view to some ancient stories on the united kingdom of David and Solomon.
