Jurors of the National Exposition of Interior Contract Furnishings (NeoCon) Product Display Competition 1992 noted that most displays were too conservative and reflected the manufacturers' overly cautious attitudes in developing and promoting their products. They urged the industry to explore more novel ideas and devise creative yet organized and appealing product information disemination techniques. They citedthe winners for their intelligent and people-oriented approach and stressed theneed for product designers to plan ahead for the advancement of the industry.

Lillian's Pavilion

Article Abstract:

Lillian Vernon Corp's office building in Virginia Beach, VA, features a two-story building with an irregularly-shaped elevation and a creative interior design. The use of mirrored glass curtain walls created an interesting facade which reflected itself and its surroundings. The interior is characterized by colorful palettes, geometric patterns and tilted lines that lit up an otherwiseordinary office setting.

San Francisco, CA-based Brayton and Hughes Design Studio wins the 1996 Interiors Designer of the Year Award. Founded in 1991, the firm's clients include the Orrick Herrington and Sutcliffe Law Office, Chiron Corp., HAL Investments and the Meadow Club. The firm's partners, Stanford Hughes and Richard Brayton, met while both were working for Bull, Field, Volkman and Stockwell.
