Barrett House: a federal manse

The size and classical proportion of Barrett House in Ipswich, NH, may be attributed to the fact that it was the product of a challenge between the fathers of Charles Barrett, Jr, and Martha Minot, then newly married. The magnificent house was converted into a museum in 1948 by the society.

London Town's Brown House
Article Abstract:
The William Brown House in London Town, MD, offers a good example of the house-museums in the 18th century. Still undergoing restoration, the brick Georgian-style house with twin facing chimneys, built in the 1760s, has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.
