Ford Center for the Performing Arts

Article Abstract:

The Ford Center for the Performing Arts in New York, NY, was designed from the remnants of the old Lyric and Apollo music theaters. Architects Beyer Blinder Belle and theater design experts Roger Morgan Studio combined forces to design the interiors to create a true theater mood. The main difficulty of the project was in integrating the few remaining original elements into a cohesive whole. The solution was to introduce period elements that are related to the original and apply subtle color changes to distinguish them.
