Island jewel

Article Abstract:

The Sans Souci Hotel and Club in Ochos Rios, Jamaica was renovated to include a new wing which would jouse 36 suites, a second restaurant and a conference center. The lobby of the hotel captured the greathouse tradition with high celinigns and exposed structure. The furniture, designed in greathouse style were made of poplar and mahogany and were arranged according to the functions of a hotel lobby with business elements cleverly concealed. The tile floors were done in pale pink while bathrooms were fitted with whirlpool tubs and brass fixtures.

Beyond Santa Fe

Article Abstract:

Inn of the Anasazi, a luxury hotel in Santa Fe, NM, was designed by architects Steve Conger and Michael Fuller of the Aspen Design Group who collaborated with interior designers Jim Rimelspach and Susan Seifert from Wilson and Assoc. The regional style of the southwest was adapted but architects and designers went beyond traditional Santa Fe styling by researching on the culture of the Anasazi Indians. Southwest architectural motifs included round beams, sculpted corbels and lattice work with colors derived from the Anasazis.

Building fabric

Article Abstract:

Augusta Medical Center's textile program resulted from the collaboration of Ellerbe Becket's architects and interior designers, KnollTextiles and Fishersville, VA's hospital committee. The textile program had to address hospital requirements but not at the expense of creativity and community character. The final textile program enhanced the hospital's deconstructivist design and combined local and international influences.
