KCPQ Broadcast Studio

Article Abstract:

Television station KCPQ Channel 13 felt the need for a new headquarters that would enhance its new status as one of Seattle, WA's major stations and satisfy its new all-digital broadcast and production needs. Commissioning Callison Architecture to conduct site studies, planning, architecture, interior design and graphics, the station's new headquarters were relocated to an abandoned candy factory in Lake Union. The newly designed building, where regional materials were used to reflect the station's strong community ties, has both a utilitarian and residential feel.

Media offices: United Media, NYC

Article Abstract:

HWL International designed the interior of United Media's office in New York, NY. To create a blend of a sense of fun and seriousness, HWL designed an impressive diagonal zone as the main area to which other spaces open. Its open ceiling, dramatic lighting and spaciousness creates the ambience of a loft. At one end of the diagonal zone is the entrance where the firm's products are displayed in a 980-sq.-ft. showroom. In contrast, the workstations, which open into the diagonal zone, are subdued. However, these are accented with colors from the zone.
