Notes from the color camp

Article Abstract:

The Society of Newspaper Design sponsored its second summer camp with favorable reactions from the participants. There was more interactive participation in this color camp which brought together participants from different newspaper departments for a four-day integrated training program. Two camps are being scheduled for Aug 1992 in Evanston, IL, with one of the programs focusing on photojournalism. Participants in the photojournalism workshop will be taught how different departments can cooperate as a team. Discussions will cover the assignment process, technology, the interview and newsgathering process, editing, headlines, captions and page design.

Sonic boon: ultrasonic cleaning, is expensive - so why do it?

Article Abstract:

Ultrasonic cleaning proves beneficial to shipowners and cost-effective in the long-run, depsite its high-cost. Ultrasonic cleaning equipment such as the 10W/litre from Branson Ultrasonics, the OCHO 118 from Marco Marine, and the made to order equipment from Mar-Tec are useful for cleaning objects that cannot be cleaned by other methods. Furthermore, the ultrasonic cleaners work well with cold water and are best used for cleaning lube oil filters and even engine exhaust valves and cylinder heads.

A broad variety of exotic mushrooms such as Portobellos and enoke-dake are widely available. They can be roasted, grilled, baked, creamed, and broiled. Recipes featuring mushrooms include include Mushroom Consumme with Morels and Pastry 'Hats' and Three-Mushroom Tart.
