Retailing: the road ahead

Article Abstract:

There has been a trend towards out-of-town shopping stores and away from high street outlets in the early 90's, which has led to a decline in retail design and less emphasis on the aesthetic aspect of stores. It is forecast that there will be a reaction away from this, however, although it will not be imediate. This will be a result of distaste for large stores, new applications for technology, which will allow consumers to order for home delivery using bar codes, and constrains on land planning.
