A national survey suggests newspaper designers remain less highly regarded and less frequently used than their print-oriented colleagues. Journalism schools are improving designer training programs, and designers in the field need to proactively collaborate with the rest of newspaper staff.

All I'm learning about newspaper design, I'm learning from the Web

Article Abstract:

The author argues that Web design seminars teach him more about newspaper design than print seminars. The Web site viewer must be visually engaged in seconds and the emphasis is on interactivity, standards that are relevant to print journalism.

It's time we introduced a design ethics code

Article Abstract:

Newspaper designers have no established ethical code, but they should create one. Poor design can be deceptive or deluding, since the issue is one of responsible reporting rather than aesthetics.
