In full swing

Article Abstract:

A new standard for hinges was published in 1990. BS 7352 concerns the strength and durability of metal hinges and provides tables to assist specifiers. Hinges are grouped by weight and function and the standard notes nine classes. Heavier doors require hinges of over 60Kg capacity and new materials have enabled producers to make these heavier hinges smaller and thinner. Specialised hinges can be used as closers and can have fire and security functions built in.
