Stretching tradition

Article Abstract:

Textile manufacturer F. Schumacher specializes in the production of woven fabrics appropriate for residential projects, but its contract division is actively involved in reproduction and adaptation of historic fabric designs. A Knoll heritage

Article Abstract:

KnollTextiles, founded in 1947 by Florence Knoll, turned to men's suiting fabrics in developing a line of commercial upholstery fabrics. Men's wear fashion designer Jhane Barnes was hired in 1982 to add to KnollTextiles' collection of upholstery fabrics. Barnes is the first fashion designer to cross over to upholstery fabric design. Her minimalist geometric style in textured fabrics blend well with KnollTextiles' lines.
