Article Abstract:

Furniture manufacturer Haworth Inc launched a new line of systems furnishings that is both efficient and environment-friendly. The Premise line of office furniture consists of smart, easy-to-install and site-adaptable pieces. Moreover, the pieces were made with water-based adhesives and recylable steel, instead of petrochemical derivatives. The furniture line was developed over a 20-month period using the Quality Function Deployment management technique which matches customer needs with engineering requirements.

Metropolitan Furniture Inc has strengthened its operational base by consolidating its factories and administrative operations in a 155,000 sq ft facility in Burlingame, CA. In line with its market expansion thrusts, the company has developed new product lines including a library furniture line designed by Brian Kane and the compact conference room called Rugby. Metro has also developed other casegoods line rendered with innovative finishes in colaboration with architects and furniture designers.

Article Abstract:

Furniture designer James Kelly designed the Tappa pull-up chair in collaboration with office furniture manufacturer, Executive Office Concepts. The chair is designed using the concept of lattice contruction fastened with dowel joinery. It has a double front leg and a superimposed top rail with the fabric upholstered separately to ensure maximum stretching. The chair is available in solid walnut or maple.
