Article Abstract:

UK minister of state for social security, Frank Field, outlined his plans for reforming the welfare state to the Institute of Directors. Field discussed the five main issues which are affecting peoples' lives. These are: the reduction of manufacturing jobs; the increasing numbers of people becoming self-employed; the distribution of new jobs amongst households; fewer jobs for older men; and more long-term unemployed people. Field discussed how the welfare system could be changed to address these problems.

Macho man vs. the news: three judges clamp a choke hold on news to amuse

Article Abstract:

The US Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit rejected Mark Madden's refusal to reveal his sources of information that he used on Turner Broadcasting's World Championship Wrestling 900 call-in telephone number to attack World Wrestling Federation officials. The judges decided that Madden was working as an entertainment personality rather than a reporter, and agreed that Titan Sports, owner of the World Wrestling Federation, was entitled to know his sources.
