A conversation with Adam Luders

Article Abstract:

Danish dancer Adam Luders overcame his father's objections to ballet and a difficult childhood to become one of George Balanchine's primary dancers. Luders, initially famous as an ideal partner, was successfully paired with the great ballerinas Suzanne Farrell, Heather Watts, and Karin von Aroldingen. He credits some of his success to his strength and discipline. Proud of his past accomplishments, he enjoys teaching as well as performing.

Ashton's legacy: a conversation with Michael Somes

Article Abstract:

Many of choreographer Frederick Ashton's early dance works were created before the invention of Benesh notation, so they were never written down. Ashton's 'Symphonic Variations' was staged for American Ballet Theatre by Michael Somes, to whom Ashton left the rights to the dance. Long director of the Royal Ballet, Ashton developed a distinctive style as a choreographer and exhibited a multi-faceted talent.
