A conversation with Julie Kent

Article Abstract:

Ballerina Julie Kent believes characterization is important to portray dance roles effectively during performances. Kent approaches her method of instruction with this as the primary focus. Characterization leads to expression and emotion, which help a dancer interpret the roles she is performing. It also builds relationships with other dancers and the audience.
