Article Abstract:

The present situation of the ballet producers and their companies in the ten countries that joined the European Union on May 1, 2004, are discussed. Germany's northernmost ballet company is called Hamburg Ballet John Neumeier and the Frankfurt Ballet is dead, whereas the Forsythe Company, Frankfurt/Dresden is awarded with guaranteed backing for its first five years from the two cities and their respective states.

A ballet reporter has described his experiences of traveling with a dance company to foreign lands with an aim of conquering audiences that are used to a different sort of dance and also to train the country's dancers in techniques they found unfamiliar. The reporter has given the details of his trip to Peru with the Dana Tai Soon Burgress Company under State Department auspices.
