My birthplace

Article Abstract:

Jose Limon describes the path he took to become a ballet dancer. He considers a dance studio in New York City to be his artistic birthplace although he was physically born in Culiacan, Mexico. His father was a musician who fled from the violence of Mexico to the US, where he worked for several orchestras in Arizona and eventually settled in Los Angeles, CA. Limon broke from his family and religion for the artistic life of New York.
