New York

Article Abstract:

The Paris Opera's Aurelie Dupond and Manuel Legris were guests with the New York City Ballet during its Balanchine Celebration's recent European festival. Dupond and Legris danced 'Sonatine' on the opening night of the spring season and then twice more during the following week, where the work demonstrates a rapprochement between neoclassical and character dancing, defining in almost diagrammatic form, Balanchine's seamless integration of different schools of movement.

New York

Article Abstract:

American Ballet theatre's fall season at the city center began with a quadruple mixed bill, featuring two important revivals who are Frederick Ashton's Symphonic Variations and Antony Tudor's Pillar of Fire. Pillar of Fire was once a signature piece of Ballet theatre-a dance that defined the nature of a company whose name included those two words.

St. Petersburg

Article Abstract:

'Calculation, moderation and diligence are termed to be his trump cards, will triple his capital and give peace and independence' these thoughts belong to Herman in Pushkin's novella Pikaya Dama. In the ballet the relationship between Herman and Baroness is unusual because it fluctuates at different times and they are antagonists or sacred allies.
