The debut performance of Bucharest-born dancer Alina Cojocaru as Nikiya in ABT's La Baydere, that took place at the Metropolitan Opera House in May, with a repeat performance two days later is discussed. Details about her education, her later performances, and her style of ballet are also highlighted, with a personal wish that the American Ballet Theatre would invite her back.

The nine dancers from the Martha Graham Dance Company performed an excerpt from Cave of the Heart and the complete Appalachian Spring at the Hollywood Bowl, which is run by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The year 2005 marks the sixtieth anniversary of Appalachian Spring, a signature work for both Graham and the composer Aaron Copland.
