Honouring the legacy: the Louis Goldberg Collection

Article Abstract:

The life and memory of Louis Goldberg, a distinguished professor and accountant in Australia, is being honored by the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants. The Louis Goldberg Collection of accounting works and papers will be housed at the Geelong Waterfront Campus of Deakin University and will be comprised of Goldberg's works and an extensive collection of other materials. Goldberg's teaching career spanned the years 1931 to 1973 and his writing career continued well thereafter.

Ports in storms: what policy choices?

Article Abstract:

Australia's port authorities focus on their maintenance costs and depreciation levels when they are making accounting policy choice decisions. The larger the port, the larger the depreciation levels tend to be. With regards to the treatment of maintenance costs, most ports tended to expense their costs, although there is no clear advantage to expensing rather than capitalizing these costs.

Options for eating: new food, new pleasures

Article Abstract:

Australians are eating new and native foods served in restaurants in the 1990s. Native spices, herbs and flavorings are used by chefs to enhance candy, sauces and relishes. Tasmanian farmers are growing truffles, providing wines and cheeses and producing fruits and vegetables.
