Intruders beware.: artificial intelligence system based on patterns

Article Abstract:

TRW Inc has developed a new security system for their credit information data base. The system is a data driven, front-end expert program which has the ability to update its responses from the data base. The system develops a user profile which is updated daily. Suspected violations are discovered by making statistical comparisons between the accumulated enquiry patterns and the daily patterns. The suspected violations are reviewed by the system administrator to remove any accidents caused by chance, such as by a customer's broken computer. TRW will monitor access lines to trap violators. As more information is available on each user's habits the expert system will become more accurate.
