Article Abstract:

Shared Endeavors, a report by the House of Representatives deals with schemes from an employment law perspective, and proposes changes to the taxation treatment of schemes. The Australian government has rejected majority of the report's recommendations including the proposal to tax 50 percent of the gain made and the recommendation to increase the 1000 dollars concession for employee share schemes.

New governments campaigning for change

Article Abstract:

With the election of new governments in various regions of Australia come changes in industrial relations legislation. In Western Australia the anticipated extensive changes will include provision for "unfair contracts" jurisdiction, establishment of the right to "good faith" bargaining, and the repeal of the Workplace Agreements Act 1993.

Pattern bargaining outlawed

Article Abstract:

The introduction of new Australian laws to prevent the use of pattern bargaining by employers when dealing with a group or whole workforce instead of dealing with individual workers is discussed.
