Survival of the fittest

Article Abstract:

A study of the accounting profession has revealed that tax administration and compliance checking from the tax office to accountants has affected the latter's ability to manage and develop their business, additionally, significant differences were observed in the operating practices and profit margins of various firms. Suggestions are offered that will help firms increase their profitability.

Watchdog sniffs insolvency trail

Article Abstract:

The safeguards to combat insolvency by conducting reviews of companies suspected of trading while insolvent, instituted by Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), are detailed. ASIC believe that CPAs can assist their efforts in several ways including advising their clients that insolvent trading could make the directors of their companies liable for debts incurred.

Health matters

Article Abstract:

The health effects of alcohol are discussed with the medical fraternity advising that regardless of the evidence that moderate imbibing does reduce the risk of heart disease, it is best not to increase one's intake and even better never to start at all. The possible adverse outcomes of alcohol intake are listed, and its effects in the workplaces are described.
